Alexis Nicole Christensen...

... is starting to wonder if there are no limits on just how much a person can lose. She lost her mom to cancer. She and her dad, Ray, lost their home to the bank. With no luck left for them in Las Vegas, they move to Minneapolis to live with her Uncle Reg, Aunt Penny and her cousins, Michael and Sarah. It’s a dicey proposition since her dad and his brother barely tolerate each other. Still, Uncle Reg is willing to hook Ray up with a teaching job at Grace and Mercy Discipleship Academy, the school attached to the church where Reg is the executive pastor and Aunt Penny is the administrative secretary. Alexis will join her cousins at G&M, and her dad will be her history teacher.

Truly, no family is perfect, but Alexis doesn’t expect to find Sarah turning into a mean girl or Michael disappearing for days on end without explanation--not to mention the way Uncle Reg treats Aunt Penny.
