I’ll be honest. I wrote my first book because I was so taken aback that people in my own family didn’t believe me when I told them what had happened to me. I thought, Really? You think I’d lie about something like this?
So, I wrote a book about it and told the whole world instead.
My writing career has certainly evolved since then. I found out how effectual writing the truth can be and all that it can accomplish in lives of people. It’s no longer about my own validation or even my own narrative. My writing has become all about helping others find their voices and healing and freedom through that proverbial power of the pen.
My first two books, Juxtaposed (which was my publisher's top-selling book in 2012) as well as Hope Givers: Hope is Here are now e-books. The final book in my advocacy series, Monsters Under the Bed: Practical Steps to Keeping our Children Safe from Sexual Predators, is available in paperback and as an e-book. This journey has been one of the hardest and best things I have ever done. But now it's time for a change. Although I will always do advocacy work, my writing career is evolving.
I am currently attending Hamline University in pursuit of a Masters of Fine Arts in Writing for Children and Young Adults and 100+ pages into my first YA novel.
Yes, folks, I'm switching to fiction. Stay tuned!
In the meantime, I would like to invite you to subscribe to my SATURDAISIES blog and chime in on the posts that speak to you.
As always, go out there and love justice. Show mercy. Walk Humbly. This really is all we have to do to make this world a better, kinders, safer place.
And don't forget to laugh every day.
All my love,
